WESTGATE elementary
Westgate Elementary is a schoolwide Title I building that serves 300 students in grades K-6. The school is among the most diverse in the district. It has a renewed commitment to enriching all educational experiences by integrating technology, literacy skills, creative and critical thinking, and authentic problem-solving. Westgate is part of the Westside School District in Omaha, Nebraska.
WESTGATE ELEMENTARY
Designed to support meaningful learning experiences and built for evolving technologies, the new Westgate Elementary building was finished in January 2026. It features larger windows, taller ceilings, and a streamlined layout. The updated design places classrooms along one long corridor, allowing clear visibility from kindergarten through sixth grade.
Safety was a key priority in the new design. Westgate Elementary was originally built in 1957 and rebuilt in 1975 after being destroyed by a tornado. The new facility includes a larger, dedicated storm shelter.
Vrana served as the general contractor for Westgate Elementary.
